I read that South Carolina is home to the largest and oldest Live Oak in the US. Time for a road trip.
Great drive outside of Charleston to Johns Island to visit this gorgeous tree. I believe it is the largest Live Oak known and is estimated to be close to five hundred years old. The local woods are dense and dark, and Spanish Moss hangs thick like the heavy drapes at Grandma’s that scared you. I would not have been surprised to find a body or two.
